Kelly O. Beaster is an artist and vegetation specialist, drawing in the winter and surveying wetlands and forests in the spring, summer, and fall. She lives near Lake Superior in Duluth, MN with her husband and two sons. She picked up an ink pen with the intent to challenge herself, make quicker decisions in a more permanent medium, but unexpectedly, a new style emerged. These drawings highlight the surreal within our everyday world. The pen allows for little error in technical rendering but also forces a trust and confidence in herself to recognize when an image is successful.
